The project is focusing on the educational and communication aspects of PDAs. Communication is a core skill in education. PDAs are capable of communicating in many ways. We are examining these capabilities and whether they can enhance clinical teaching, especially for busy community-based rotations.

Our project web site title arose, tongue in cheek, from the oft-heard comment: "what's the point of...?" for various aspects of the project. It underlined what we sought to establish - what is the point of using these tools in this way? What is the point of using a learning portfolio in this manner?

A key tenet of the project is platform independence - rather than get locked into committing to one PDA platform or another, we are striving to achieve some agnosis - at the moment, we are supporting both the PocketPC and Palm OS platforms. For more information about this, see here. This information needs to be updated, especially as it relates to the Palm device environment prevalent in Atherton.
