Conduits PeaceMaker

Want your PocketPC to be able to talk to other devices? Take a look at PeaceMaker from Conduits (www.conduits.com). This software enables your PocketPC to exchange data via infrared beaming with Palm and other devices.

What is particularly neat is that the Palm user does not need any special software - the Palm device just thinks that it is communicating with another Palm.

There are two versions, PeaceMaker, a free download, and PeaceMaker Pro. The latter is much more capable - you can exchange appointments, tasks, documents, PDB datafiles. The free version only allows exchange of address cards.

There are two further things to note in this area. If HanDBase PDB file exchange is important, remember that HanDBase itself allows for inter-device exchange of PDB files. Also the newer PocketPC 2002 devices now use IrOBEX which is the lingua franca of IR communications - this means that they can speak to Palms without the need for add-on software.
